I went back to sleep for a few more hours, woke up about thirty minutes ago and have had ONE measly contraction. So maybe this isn't the real thing after all. I swear I will bawl my eyes out if eight hours of contractions were a complete waste of my time and energy. I don't think I am emotionally prepared to handle what could happen at the doctor's appointment today. I'm envisioning something like this:
Me: So I started having contractions at 9 last night and I had them at about five minute intervals until I went to bed at 2. Then I woke up at 4 in pain, still contracting regularly and did so for the next two hours. Woke up at 8 to totally irregular and non-painful contractions. What gives, doc?
Doc: Hmm, let's check you. Oh, it appears that you've actually digressed. You're now only 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced. No labor for you anytime soon!
Is that completely unrealistic? Am I losing my mind here?
Ok they were NOT a complete waste of time and energy. At the very least they were ripening your cervix and maybe dilating you a centimeter or so. Just look at it as getting a rest in between early labor and active labor! It'll happen soon :)
ReplyDeletethat's not going to happen Chelsea! See what the doctor says, it may have very well been the start of early labor that might take a few more days!
