Two words - HOME OFFICE!! Go vertical with shelving above a small sleek desk with filing underneath. This may not even be a need in your house, but I think it would be the perfect little nook for it if so ...
My ideas: Family portrait gallery / art gallery (think lots of fun frames with mats for your pictures or artwork, all up & down the walls) "Schoolroom" theme--chalkboard walls, bookshelves, maybe the easel could go here Just be generic and maximize the space with a tall corner hutch or cabinet. Good for storing dishes, linens, etc.
In a way, it's nice to have that area be open....I know it seems kind of pointless, but it's nice to have an uncluttered, neutral entryway to your bedroom. All you may need is perhaps a picture on the wall, a mirror, or a small table. Whatever way you go, I know it will be great!
Not sure if you're wanting this to be a usable, practical space but all the ideas I have are just decorative... Kind of along the same lines as Anne's suggestions - a small piece of furniture/table (an interesting piece) on that larger wall with a large mirror, painting or picture above it with some decorative knick knacks on the table and a rug on the floor. Or just line all the walls with a photo collage in all different sized frames. Not sure if my degree in interior design gives these suggestions any credibility or not but those are the first two things I thought of. :)
Thank you girls! I actually love all of these suggestions! I'll have to think on this a little more and see what we have around the house so I don't spend much money.

ReplyDeleteI second the reading nook idea...throw down a couple of beanbag chairs or large pillows, maybe a blanket or two and you have a nice quiet space.
